Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, which is officially the beginning of Lent. I (Nicole) personally have enjoyed the tradition of giving something up during this season to remind me of the true sacrifice that Jesus made for our sins. It is always amazing to me to see how many times I am reminded of the ultimate sacrifice that was made for me so many years ago on the cross. Even if you aren’t giving something up for Lent, I encourage you to spend time preparing your heart for the Easter season. So thankful for the hope we have because of Jesus!
In other news...
The last few days we have enjoyed having some young blood in our home! On Sunday, 4 teenagers (2 girls and 2 boys) and their youth Pastor came to visit Berlin for a few days. The 2 girls stayed with Aaron and I and the boys stayed at the Philips home. During the day, while we were at class, they spent time walking to the all of the many historical tourist sites here in Berlin. After all of the walking they did, they were ready to relax at our place in the evening. On Tuesday night we had all 4 teenagers and their youth pastor at our place for tacos, chips and homemade salsa and guacamole! It was fun to see them have food that they have never had before!
One of the things that we introduced them to was frozen grapes. Here is a video of the boys seeing if they can keep 4 frozen grapes in their mouth for a minute...
After spending a few days with these teenagers and watching them with the frozen grapes, we are really looking forward to the German teen camp this summer in August!
